The Official SlimeLabs Timeline
From a small after-school Minecraft world in 2013 to the network you see today, SlimeLabs has grown into a community with its own seasons, events, and projects. Browse through the years to see how it all came together!
In the Beginning…
Counted as SlimeLabs’ prototype era, this was just a small group of friends playing Minecraft together after school. It’s often called the “Protolab-Era”, since the name SlimeLabs didn’t exist yet — it was simply “Slime’s Lab”, taken from @yeetoxic’s old username.
- Prototype “Protolab-Era” begins
- ~6–10 members in the early group
- Name used: Slime’s Lab
Early Organization
This was the first year where the members of SlimeLabs (around 15 people) agreed to work on one shared project together — known as Slime’s Lab, later recognized as SlimeLabs Season 1. Later that year, “Slime Lab 2” (Season 2) began, and the name was shortened to Slime Lab.
- Season 1 launched
- Season 2 began later in the year
- Name shortened to Slime Lab
Expansion
As Season 2 continued, the first Game Night Friday was hosted, bringing everyone together for minigames. SlimeLabs also tried its hand at modding through the SlimeCraft modpack. Later that year, the name Slime Lab officially became SlimeLabs, kicking off Season 3. It was during this time that the Realmer Alliance was formed — multiple Realm owners uniting under one community.
- First Game Night Friday
- Introduced the SlimeCraft modpack
- Renamed officially to SlimeLabs
- Season 3 begins
- Formed the Realmer Alliance
New Tools, Old Games
2016 saw the launch of the first SlimeLabs Discord server. With it came the start of Season 4, which would last until 2018 — the longest season yet. Membership grew to 200+, and events split into Game Night Friday and Minigame Monday.
- Launched the first Discord server
- Season 4 began (2016–2018)
- Community grew to 200+ members
- Introduced Minigame Monday
A Continuation
Season 4 continued with GNF and MM. By the end of the year, Minigame Monday wrapped up.
- Season 4 ongoing
- Game Night Friday active
- Minigame Monday ended
The Incident
The Season 4 Incident (rules and enforcement issues) caused a decline. Many left out of frustration, and both Season 4 and Game Night Friday ended early. The community paused to regroup.
- Season 4 Incident occurred
- Season 4 ended early
- Game Night Friday ended
Filler
A Realm SMP was run while staff regrouped, ending by Christmas. An attempted Season 5 was canceled within a week. The future of SlimeLabs was unclear.
- Hosted a filler Realm SMP
- Attempted Season 5, quickly canceled
Lockdown
The Covid-19 pandemic brought members back for Season 6, meant to be the final season — but it was a huge success. Season 7 began only a week later. Game Night Friday also returned with a second season.
- Season 6 launched and succeeded
- Season 7 started immediately after
- Game Night Friday S2 returned
We’re Back, Baby!
SlimeLabs moved from Realms to a dedicated server under SlimeLabs.net. The year saw SMP Beta, SMP 1, and the last “classic” season, SLS8. Game Night Friday S3 and the first Movie Night also launched.

Right Where We Left Off!
SMP 2 and SMP 3 carried the momentum. Membership hit 100+ again. Events continued with Game Night Friday S4 and Movie Night S2.
- SMP 2 and SMP 3
- Membership climbed past 100
- GNF S4
- Movie Night S2
A Year of Change
2023 was steady, with regular updates to the servers and the launch of Game Night Friday Season 5. It was also a personal milestone — graduation from high school and the move to college meant less free time by the end of the year. Even so, development skills grew stronger, and regular updates continued to bring life to the network. This included the release of SLS (developed by Protoxon) and the community once again had a home to gather in.
Not everything lasted, though — Movie Nights were dropped before the year was out. On the bright side, a new optimized Minecraft modpack, Yeetoxic Reoptimized (YR), was released to the community.
- Graduated high school, moved to college
- Regular server updates and maintenance
- Hosted Game Night Friday Season 5
- Released SLS (by Protoxon) into the network
- Movie Nights discontinued
- Published Yeetoxic Reoptimized (YR) modpack
The Day of the Womp Womp
2024 began much like the year before — updates rolled out slowly as free time shrank, and the usual stress of keeping everything running never let up. Then June 4th hit: the day that came to be known as “the day of the womp womp”. A hacked admin account deleted the entire SlimeLabs Discord, wiping out the community in an instant.
It was a serious blow. By the end of June, the Discord was reopened, but the damage was done — the server had to be rebuilt almost from scratch. Thankfully, this wasn’t the first time SlimeLabs had been forced to start over. Work began immediately to restore what was lost: rebuilding the Discord, pushing new server updates, and releasing a public version of SLS. On top of that, a few minigame events were introduced, and the Yeetoxic Reoptimized pack was renamed to Yeetoxic’s Optimized Minecraft (YOM).
- Slow start to the year — fewer updates, more stress
- June 4th: Discord wiped by a hacked admin (“the day of the womp womp”)
- Reopened the Discord later that month and began rebuilding
- Released a public version of SLS
- Hosted new minigame events
- Renamed Yeetoxic Reoptimized to Yeetoxic’s Optimized Minecraft (YOM)
A Year of Rebuilding (The present)
2025 is still in progress, but it’s already been packed with milestones. SLS v4 released, complete with a polished web interface — the most advanced version yet. Alongside that came a wave of custom plugins, each adding more depth to the network. Behind the scenes, a dedicated physical server was built, and all of SlimeLabs.net officially moved to self-hosting. This website itself was part of that rebuild.
Community events also made a comeback with Game Night Friday Season 6, the first GNF in over a year and a half, which was a highlight of the year so far. Membership is climbing back toward the 100 mark, showing that momentum is alive again. What happens next is uncertain — but there’s plenty more in the pipeline.
- Released SLS v4 with a web interface
- Developed multiple custom plugins
- Built a physical server and moved SLnet to self-hosting
- Launched the new SlimeLabs website
- Hosted Game Night Friday Season 6
- Community close to reaching 100 members again
- More projects and updates underway
